How accurate is the Helixline DNA test?
Our genotyping accuracy is 99.9% at over 700,000 SNP markers. We use a South Asian-first reference panel with 2,500+ samples from across the Indian subcontinent, giving you 10x finer resolution than global tests that treat all Indians as "South Asian."
How is Helixline different from 23andMe or AncestryDNA?
Global tests like 23andMe and AncestryDNA typically show Indians as "100% South Asian" with no further detail. Does the test identify or label caste?
No. We do not identify or label caste. Your results show genetic community clusters and regional ancestry patterns that reflect population history, not social identity. Our focus is on shared ancestry, migration history, and genetic heritage.
How long does it take to get my results?
Results are typically ready in 4 to 6 weeks from when we receive your sample at our lab. You'll get an email and app notification as soon as your results are available in your personal dashboard.
How do I collect my sample?
Simply spit into the collection tube provided in your kit. No blood draws, no clinic visits. Just avoid eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth for 30 minutes before collecting. Detailed instructions are included with every kit.
Is packaging discreet?
Yes. The outer packaging has no DNA branding or any indication of the contents. It arrives as a plain, unmarked parcel for your complete privacy.
Do you ship across India? Is shipping free?
Yes! We offer free shipping across India with delivery in 3-5 business days. We also provide free return pickup for your sample - just schedule a pickup from your dashboard and a courier will collect it from your doorstep.
What happens if my sample fails?
In the rare case that a sample doesn't yield enough DNA for analysis, we ship you a brand new collection kit completely free of charge - no questions asked.
What is included in the Infinite kit?
The Infinite kit includes everything in the Ancestry Essential kit, plus 30+ health and wellness trait insights, a pharmacogenomics report, carrier status screening, priority sample processing, and your raw & processed DNA files (VCF format) to keep forever.
Can I gift a DNA test kit to someone?
Absolutely! DNA test kits make a unique and meaningful gift. Simply order a kit and enter the recipient's shipping address. The recipient will create their own Helixline account to activate the kit and view their results privately.
What age do you need to be to take the test?
You must be 18 years or older to order and activate a kit. Minors can be tested with parental or legal guardian consent - the parent/guardian must create the account and manage the minor's results.
Can family members access my results?
No. Your results are strictly private and accessible only through your personal account. You can choose to share specific reports with family members, but nobody else can view your data without your explicit permission.
Can my employer or insurance company access my data?
Absolutely not. We never share your genetic data with employers, insurance companies, or any third parties. Your data is encrypted with AES-256 encryption and stored exclusively on Indian servers, fully compliant with Indian data protection laws.
Where is my DNA processed and stored?
Your DNA sample is processed in ISO 15189 certified labs within India. All genetic data is stored on secure Indian servers and never leaves the country. We believe in complete genetic sovereignty - your Indian DNA stays in India.
Can I delete my account and all data?
Yes. You have full control over your data. Use the one-click "Delete All My Data" button in your dashboard to permanently erase all your genetic data, account information, and results from our systems.
Can I upload my raw DNA data from another service?
Yes! If you've already taken a test with 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or MyHeritage, you can upload your raw DNA data to Helixline and get our India-specific analysis. Visit the Upload page to get started.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a 30-day return policy for unopened kits. The delivery charge will be deducted and the remaining amount is transferred back to your original payment method once the kit reaches us. Once the kit has been activated and the sample submitted, refunds are not possible as lab processing has already begun.
